I been spending lots of time talking about template customization and user optimization mostly on the topic of content creation, having good quality content, and the importance of keeping that content fresh and on point. So I just want to back off for just a minute and focus a little bit on the fun stuff, the actual web design aspect of it.

What I want to share with you this time is 5 free webdesign tools that I use on my template customization projects, and other custom template projects, in fact sometimes I actually refer clients to try these free tools to help them decide on a color pallet for their template customization.

http://www.colorjack.com/ This is a sweet color picking tool to help you choose your color scheme. Choosing the right colors for your website is never easy, sometimes you find just the right template but you may not really like all the colors there, well with colorjack all you do is try some different color matches with the color picker tools, each color sample is clearly labeled with its 6-digit hex code (useful for newbies) and RGB, HSV, and CMYK values.

Also it lets you create and download your own swatch color pallet, then just send us that file as your template customization color pallet.

http://www.stripegenerator.com/ This is my favorite, if you want an easy way to make a really cool striped background for your template then this is it. Its so amazing and so simple to use, they even give you the code to ad the background to the HTML. Again, if you have a template and you need custom background this tool is perfect for tiled backgrounds on the fly. I also just use it for my twitter.

http://www.tartanmaker.com/ Very similar to the stripe patter maker is this tartan maker, another neat little webtool grate for making very cool tartan patterns and you can even import it into Flash. For all you Scottish wankers and fancy diners!

http://www.tabsgenerator.com/ This next one is a tab generator great for making round corner tab and very easy to integrate with the template customization.

Making tabs has never been easier, you get to choose the height, width, color and roundness of the tab and even the border thickness, then just refresh the preview area and you’re ready to download the free tab. Truly template customization has never been easier than with the aid of these tools!

http://www.mycoolbutton.com Mycoolbutton is a tool that lets you create well, really cool buttons, its almost like magic, specially if you’ve ever try to do template customization yourself, or if you’ve ever tried making your own button in photoshot, I’m sure you’ll realy appreciate this one.

It lets you chose the look you want, lets you select the font type and even lets you choose from a huge list of icon for your button. This is all free of course, very professional, very nice, very handy tool.
