Gone are the days when potential customers scoured the newspaper ads or looked through the Yellow Pages to find a lawn business.

Today’s tech-savvy customers more often than not turn to the Internet where they can simply type a few words like, “lawn service” and within seconds they are clicking on some website and dialing the competitor down the street.

SEO plays a big roll these days for local businesses – but what is it?

SEO is a catch-phrase you might be hearing a lot these days if you’ve been researching having your own website.

It means, simply, Search Engine Optimization.

However, many lawn business overlook this, loosing out on hundreds of lawn customers every year, so I thought we share with you 7 SEO tips that can improve your search engine ranking.

1. Build links from as many related sites as possible to your site.

2. Make sure to always include a unique Title & Description for every page.

3. Include your most important keywords in the title and description.

4. Focus, don’t try to cover more than 1 or 2 topics on a page.

5. Every page should have an h1 tag.

6. Don’t use Flash for constructing your site, it’s Ok to include some flash content, but remember search engines can’t read flash.

7. Never ever try to fool the search engines. No hiding white text on white background or deceptive practices.”
