Being a web developer, I’m always interested in how sites look on different browsers – that’s one challenge, however, in the last few years there has been a huge push towards widescreen monitors – the challenge ahead now lies on how well your design can adapt to all the extra room otherwise you could wind up filling only a third or less of the screen.

Its ironic in a sense because we went from trying to cram as much data in as little amount space possible, to having an over abundance of screen real state. But, it shouldn’t come as a surprise June 12, 2009, marked the due date for the digital television transition, that fact alone can be scary considering that there will be millions more people buying widescreens – nowadays you cant buy a square monitor even if you wanted to – everything just got wider – granted, most of the websites on the Internet today still use the old non-wide designs, nevertheless, the switch is still inevitable.

Now comes wide templates -wide templates, such as the ones I’m about to show you, are optimized for a greater screen resolution – they do away with fixed width layouts to make room for a wider width web page.
