I’m pretty sure I’ll make a few people happy with what I am about to say. This will be my last post in this design! Next week you should see what I have been sweating on for a long time. Yes, you did read it right, the new blog is ready to be launched! Don’t email me anymore when it will be done :)

A few days ago Adobe announced CS5, I say announced because nothing is actually shipping yet. From our previous endeavor we already knew that something new was coming. The cat is now out of the bag and we get to see what the design team at Adobe has been up to. In this follow up of our previous article we will also let Shawn Cheris, the lead designer for Adobe’s Desktop Brand team do most of the talking.

A few years back the Internet was going totally ballistic when Adobe introduced the new branding for CS3. Most people didn’t like the change and it was very controversial. I think I was one of the lonely few that actually liked the change. Now, a few years later another change is apparently up on us.

Today a new social network web site called fabulis, launches its first (beta) release, which is only a limited version of what the site will offer once it’s fully finished. The design of the ‘full launch’ is still in full swing, and so we thought the timing would be perfect to talk about the process of the logo design.

It doesn’t always happen that you get the chance to work on something that you personally use a lot. This time we had the opportunity to create a new logo for The Deep House Cat show.

A few days back I created a simple Valentine card for a client’s project. I thought it would be ideal for an Illustrator tutorial as it is created using simple shapes and involved only a tiny bit of Pen tool drawing. In this tutorial it’s all about finding the right composition.

Last week I talked about the logo design for Visit France. Looking at this logo again, I thought this would be a good opportunity to explain a bit more how I created the flag. No special tricks were involved though, a lot of Pen drawing and tweaking work was needed to get the result I wanted. It’s time to brush up your Illustrator Pen tool techniques.

Not so long ago we had the pleasure to work together with the mighty Andy Clarke from Stuff and Nonsense. He was working on a site called “Stay in Wales”  and his client needed a logo for this project.

The break between Xmas and New Year was over before I even fully realized that two weeks have past. I’ve made some great progress working on my new blog during that break. Work has been in full swing already so I hope that I can spend my weekends working on it further. I started sharing some random bits on my Twitter feed. If you follow you’ll understand why it is taking so long, plus I don’t like half work ;)

Time for a bit of design background of this recent project we just launched. SLV Rent is a company specialized in sound, light, and vision. Duoh! also designed the logo, business cards, invoices, and advertisements for them. This project seemed the perfect fit to try something we didn’t to use before.

Here is a little update on what is going on over at Duoh! HQ. The new blog is coming along slowly and I am almost at the stage of adding content. Currently I need to work on the archive page and my about page. Those are still two big pages that I need to finish. When these are done I can concentrate on getting some content in there.

You may have noticed that things have slowed down here a bit. I’m also diverting all interviews and keep answering mails to a minium for the time being. The reason for all this is that I am working on Veerle’s blog 3.0. The journey was long and hard!

A while ago I received an invitation from Jon Hicks to join a project called the Travelling Moleskines. It immediately triggered my interest to accept the invite as I love to sketch…

In October I’ll be traveling to Leiden, The Netherlands. Never been there but apparently the city is famous for its almshouses, university, museums and glorious history – and the spirit of the Golden Age lives on here.
